Members of Butner Presbyterian Church volunteered to participate in the Habitat for Humanity build in Stem and our assignment was to install the sheetrock. Members worked on three consecutive Saturdays and one Wednesday night to complete all the work. The sheetrock was installed on all interior ceilings and walls. The efforts were well coordinated (at times) and everyone pitched in to make the work fun and educational. Expert guidance was provided by Don Wilkins who obviously had done this type of work before. Don’s team’s rooms were well laid out with vertical lines drawn on the sheetrock to indicate the location on the wall studs for retaining screws.
The work was completed on Saturday April 6th, 2008 and everyone was thrilled to be finished and excited that we were able to support such a worthy cause right here in our local community.
